This list of railway accidents in the United Kingdom provides details of significant railway crashes in the United Kingdom involving railway rolling stock, but not other railway related incidents such as the Oxford Circus fire of 1984 or the King's Cross fire of 1987 or suicides.

The worst incident was the Quintinshill rail disaster in 1915 with 226 dead and 246 injured; the 1952 Harrow and Wealdstone rail crash resulted in 112 deaths and 340 injured. The death toll from the 1957 Lewisham rail crash was 90, for the 1889 Armagh rail disaster was 80[1] and the 1857 Tay Bridge disaster was 75.
Several major disasters have taken place in London Underground stations though not involving trains; the Kings Cross fire of 1987 (31 killed); the Bethnal Green crush disaster of 1943 (173 killed; the as yet unopened station was being used as an air raid shelter); the flooding of Balham tube station by a bomb in 1940, killing 68, and similar bomb disasters at Bank (56 killed) and Marble Arch (20 killed) and Bounds Green (19 killed) – see link; and the 39 civilians and 3 terrorists who died in the 7 July 2005 London bombings.
The collapse of the London Charing Cross station roof on 5 December 1905 also falls in this category; 6 people were killed.
